The mayor of Issaquah, Washington, indicated in a post on the city's website Monday that she views Evanston City Manager Wally Bobkiewicz as the leading candidate for the city administrator's job there.
Mary Lou Pauly wrote that she'd received more favorable comments from residents and city staff about Bobkiewicz than the other finalist, Tigard, Oregon, City Manager Marty Wine, after a July 25 public open house.
She said she "takes such allegations very seriously" but wanted to "look deeper than what appears in the media."
Pauly said she has visited Evanston within the past two weeks to connect with "community members, Council, staff and senior leadership."
"I am strongly encouraged by what I observed," Pauly said. "I believe Wally Bobkiewicz shares my values and those of the Issaquah community. I was impressed by the evidence of Wally's leadership and how his team reflects the community they serve."
Pauly said she anticipates the Issaquah City Council will discuss the appointment of a new city administrator in an executive session and potentially take formal action to confirm the appointment within the next two weeks.
