With all the concerns about COVID-19, the Cook County Clerk’s office is still struggling to fully staff polling places for Tuesday’s election.
As of this morning the clerk’s office is still accepting applications from persons who want to be election judges. And a notice on the clerk’s website says, “We are waiving all training requirements and paying $150 for work on election day.”
No additional changes to polling place locations in Evanston have been announced, beyond the four reported late last week, but the clerk’s office is encouraging voters to double-check your polling location online before heading to the polls.

Early voting also continues today at the Civic Center.
Update 2 p.m.: County Clerk Karen Yarbrough says that through Sunday 142,870 in-person early voting ballots had been cast. That’s 25 percent higher than the total for the entire early voting period in the 2016 presidential primary, and a record high for a presidential primary in suburban Cook County.
The map above, from county election officials, shows the percentage of Evanston voters who cast Democratic ballots in the 2018 gubernatorial primary.
In the dark blue precincts at least 94% of voters requested Democratic ballots. In the light blue precincts at least 80% did. In Evanston in all the light blue precincts except one, between 90% and 94% reached for a Democratic ballot.
The exception was in Precinct 6 of Ward 6, which includes the Presbyterian Homes complex in northwest Evanston. There the Democratic share of ballots cast was just a shade over 80%.
