A spokesman for the Cook County Clerk’s office says it’s been a mostly quiet day at the polls in Evanston today — with just one report of trouble.

Nick Shields of the clerk’s office says a couple of leafleters for candidates at the Fleetwood-Jourdain polling place got into a dispute with officials about how far back from the entrance the 100 foot boundary of the area in which electioneering is banned was about 8:30 a.m.

Shields says after a field staffer from the Clerk’s office came out and measured off the distance with a tape measure, that dispute was resolved.

Voter turnout for the primary is generally expected to be light. At one polling place where a couple hundred ballots had been cast by mid-morning in last fall’s presidential election, only a couple of dozen ballots had been cast by roughly the same time today.

The polls close at 7 p.m. We’ll post results as soon as they become available.
