I support the recently amended affordable housing ordinance.
The ordinance has had little impact on owner-occupied homes while improvements in the ordinance add incentives for builders of multi-unit residences who want to keep their rent or sales prices competitive by allowing them variances in height, density, parking and other factors.
I believe we should look for other ways to create affordable housing in both the private and public sectors. There needs to be emphasis on transitional housing as well as programs that keep seniors in their homes if they so desire.

All of the initiatives listed as "other strategies" are valid in some way. Some address emergency issues while others like job training and economic development will have long-term, far-reaching results.
