Sunday snowstorm expected to move fast

Evanston may get as much as an inch-and-a-half of snow in just over four hours on Sunday.

Edgar Cano of the city's Public Works Agency says the snow is expected to start falling around 11 a.m. and change over to rain by about 3:30 p.m.

But above-freezing temperatures and the rain may keep down the total accumulation, Cano says.

Increasing south winds with gust of 30 mph may make the intensity of snow appear worse than what is actually falling and may create some drifting issues.

Cano says crews are on alert and ready to respond as needed.

The National Weather Service says portions of the Chicago area could see as much as three inches accumulate from this storm and that the intensity of the snow could cause hazardous travel conditions Sunday morning and early afternoon.
