Laptop taken from unlocked apartment

An unlocked front door provided access for a burglar to an apartment in the 900 block of Elmwood Avenue. This among stories in today’s daily crime bulletin from Evanston police.

Burglary

900 Elmwood

A laptop computer was stolen from an apartment with an unlocked front door in the 900 block of Elmwood Avenue between 8:30 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. Friday.

400 Dewey

Cash was taken from an unlocked 2007 Honda in the driveway of a home in the 400 block of Dewey Avenue between 10:30 p.m. Friday and 6:30 a.m. Saturday.

800 Gaffield

Miscellaneous merchandise was taken from an unlocked 2007 Honda in the 800 block of Gaffield Place between noon Nov. 29 and noon the following day.

1700 Sherman

Cash was stolen from the CVS Pharmacy in the 1700 block of Sherman Avenue around 11 p.m. yesterday.

Battery

2650 Ridge

Shirita C. Jones, 34, of 1422 Brown Ave., was arrested at 2650 Ridge Ave. at 10:03 p.m. Friday and charged with domestic battery that caused bodily harm. She is due in court on Dec. 26 at 9 a.m.

Drugs

101 Asbury

Distin W. Large, 34, of 502 W. Vine St., North Judson, Ind., was arrested at 101 Asbury Ave. at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Graffiti

900 Chicago

Graffiti was discovered on a library in the 900 block of Chicago Avenue at 9 a.m. Friday.

Other

800 Dodge

Police received a report of a man with a gun in the 800 block of Dodge Avenue at 11:44 p.m. Saturday. They checked the area but found no man with a gun.

Shots Heard

2000 Dewey

Gunshots were reported in the 2000 block of Dewey Avenue at 8:10 a.m. Friday. Police checked the area but found nothing.

Theft

1100 Chicago

Someone ate food without paying for it at Jewel Food Store in the 1100 block of Chicago Avenue at 6:45 p.m. Saturday.

1800 Ashland

A bicycle was taken from the yard of a home in the 1800 block of Ashland Avenue around midnight Saturday,

1640 Chicago

Danielle M. Allen, 29, of 1143 W. North Shore Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 1640 Chicago Ave. at 4:24 p.m. Saturday and charged with retail theft. She is due in court on Jan. 18 at 9 a.m.

Traffic

Dempster at McDaniel

Kenneth W. Tate, 59, of 2002 Darrow Ave., was arrested at Dempster Street and McDaniel Ave., at 2:03 p.m. Friday and charged with a traffic violation. He is due in court on Jan. 7 at 9 a.m.
