The return of favorable weather is increasing the chances that bicycles will be sought after by thieves. Two such incidents are among the stories in today’s daily crime report from Evanston police.
A bicycle was taken while unsecured from an apartment common area in the 1300 block of Central Street between 6 p.m. Friday and 11:10 a.m. yesterday.
An open garage door led to the theft of a bicycle from a home in the 300 block of Custer Avenue between 9 a.m. and 10:27 a.m. yesterday.
Someone stole baby food from a store in the 2200 block of Howard Street around 4:20 p.m. Saturday.
A purse was taken while unattended at an office building in the 800 block of Chicago Avenue around 12:20 p.m. yesterday.
A silver 2014 Ford SUV was stolen from the 100 block of Ridge Avenue between 7:05 p.m. and 10:20 p.m. yesterday.
Kieran W. Kelleher Rose, 24, of 2606 Grant St., was arrested at that address at 9:30 a.m. yesterday and charged with domestic battery.
Darrow at Lyons
Someone removed a tablet computer from the trunk of a vehicle at Darrow Avenue and Lyons Street between 2:30 a.m. and 2:45 a.m. today.
Graffiti was discovered at 1:34 p.m. yesterday at an apartment common area in the 600 block of Case Place.
Gunshots were reported in the 1700 block of Leland Avenue at 10:36 p.m. yesterday. Police checked the area but found nothing.
Peter L. Gabiola, 54, of 3466 S. 14th St., Omaha, Nebr., was arrested at 620 Madison St. at 4:10 a.m. today and charged with a traffic violation.
Jasmine Soto, 20, of 4929 W. George Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 1325 Howard St. at 6:19 p.m. Monday and charged with a traffic violation. She is due in court on July 8 at 9 a.m.
An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt, which can only be determined by a court of law. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Circuit Court in Skokie.
