Break-in at Methodist church on Oak

Burglars forced their way into the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in the 1400 block of Oak Avenue and stole negotiable instruments and miscellaneous merchandise. This is among the stories in today’s daily crime bulletin from Evanston police.

1400 Oak

Burglars forced open a door to enter the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in the 1400 block of Oak Avenue between 10:30 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. yesterday. Items taken included negotiable instruments, plus miscellaneous merchandise.

Criminal Trespass

1608 Hinman

Valando T. Dixon, 33, of 1450 Chicago Ave., was arrested at 1608 Hinman Ave. at 12:23 a.m. today and charged with criminal trespass of a residence. He is due in court on July 29 at 9 a.m.

Graffiti

900 Gaffield

Graffiti was discovered on Chicago Transit Authority property in the 900 block of Gaffield Place at 5:03 p.m. yesterday.

Other

1923 Asbury

Shalone N. Brewton, 49, of 1923 Asbury Ave., was arrested at that address at 8:14 a.m. Sunday and charged with violation of an order of protection.

Theft

1600 Orrington

An American flag was removed from the flagpole at the Chase Bank in the 1600 block of Orrington Avenue around 3:15 a.m. today.

An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt, which can only be determined by a court of law. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Circuit Court in Skokie.
