Quarrel ends in knifing on Oakton

A 28-year-old Chicago man was arrested in the 700 block of Oakton Street last night and charged with battery as a result of an injury with a pocket knife during a quarrel, police said. This among the stories in today’s daily crime bulletin from Evanston police.

701 Oakton

Julius T. Freeman, 28, of 5044 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 701 Oakton St. at 1:15 a.m. today and charged with injuring another man in the hand with a pocket knife during a quarrel, according to police. Freeman is due in court on Oct. 8 at 9 a.m.

700 Custer

Someone reported seeing a man with a gun in the 700 block of Custer Avenue at 11:51 p.m. yesterday. Police checked the area but found no man with a gun.

Theft

1700 Dobson

A bicycle secured in the yard of a home in the 1700 block of Dobson Street was stolen between 5:30 p.m. and 10 p.m.  Saturday.

900 Ashland

An unsecured bicycle on the grounds of Washington School in the 900 block of Ashland Avenue was stolen around 9 a.m. yesterday.

1300 Central

A catalytic converter was removed from a Jeep vehicle in the 1300 block of Central Street between 11:30 p.m. Sunday and 3 p.m. yesterday.

2600 Bennett

A catalytic converter was removed from a 2006 Honda in the 2600 block of Bennett Avenue between 8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 a.m. yesterday.

Traffic

510 Sheridan

Jeff Langston, 55, of 523 E. 22nd St., Dubuque, Iowa, was arrested at 510 Sheridan Square at 8:13 a.m. yesterday and charged with driving under the influence. He is due in court on Oct. 15 at 9 a.m.

An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt, which can only be determined by a court of law. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Circuit Court in Skokie.
