Police check 2 gunshot reports

Evanston police checked out two reports of gunshots heard in the city—at Crain Street and Florence Avenue and Ridge Avenue at Brummel Street. These among stories in today’s daily crime bulletin from Evanston police.

Shots Heard

Crain at Florence

Gunshots were reported in the vicinity of Crain Street and Florence Avenue at 2 a.m. Saturday. Police checked the area but found nothing.

Ridge at Brummel

Gunshots were reported in the vicinity of Ridge Avenue and Brummel Street at 12:40 a.m. today. Police checked the area but found nothing.

Battery

1043 Darrow

Rachon D. Burke, 49, of 1049 E. 73rd St., Chicago, was arrested at 1043 Darrow Ave. at 5:57 p.m. Saturday and charged with domestic battery. He is due in court on Dec. 18 at 9:30 a.m.

Burglary

400 South Boulevard

Cash and vehicle parts were taken from an unlocked 1998 Honda in the 400 block of South Boulevard between 8:30 p.m. Thursday and 9:30 p.m. Friday.

1700 Oak

Metals, including iron and copper, were taken from a construction site in the 1700 block of Oak Avenue between 5:30 p.m. Friday and 7 a.m. Saturday.

100 Clyde

A dead bolt lock was damaged in an unsuccessful attempt to enter an apartment in the 100 block of Clyde Avenue between noon on Saturday and 8:37 p.m. yesterday.

Criminal Damage

1100 Grove

Someone smashed the rear windshield of a 2013 Hyundai in the 1100 block of Grove Street between 2 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday.

2700 Princeton

A 2011 Toyota sustained scratches from a key in the 2700 block of Princeton Avenue between 6:20 p.m. on May 2 and 2 p.m. Friday.

Drugs

1607 Emerson

William H. Logan, 60, of 731 Hinman Ave., was arrested at 1607 Emerson St. at 5:51 p.m. Saturday and charged with possession of a prohibited substance and harassment by electronic communication.

Graffiti

1400 Oakton

Graffiti was found on a residential garage in the 1400 block of Oakton Street at 11:08 a.m. Saturday.

1500 Oakton

Graffiti was found on a residential garage in the 1500 block of Oakton Street at 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 1.

1700 Ashland

Graffiti was found at a single-family home in the 1700 block of Ashland Avenue at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Other

1117 Howard

Kenneth M. Ross, 38, of 915 Dobson St., was arrested at 1117 Howard St. at 9:05 a.m. Saturday and charged with disorderly conduct with an imminent threat of violence. He is due in court on Jan. 17 at 9 a.m.

Theft

2400 Main

Alcoholic products were stolen from a store in the 2400 block of Main Street at 12:37 p.m. Saturday.

900 Maple

Documents left unattended at a mental health facility in the 900 block of Maple Avenue were stolen around 11:30 p.m. Friday.

A gaming system was removed from a room at a mental health facility in the 900 block of Maple Avenue between 8:44 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. yesterday.

1600 Sherman

Drugs were stolen from a store in the 1600 block of Sherman Avenue between 12:39 p.m. and 3:22 p.m. yesterday.

1000 Grove

A purse was taken from a locker at the McGaw YMCA between 10:35 a.m. and 11 a.m. yesterday.

1700 Ridge

A package containing a cell phone that was delivered to an apartment complex in the 1700 block of Ridge Avenue was stolen around 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 1.

1800 Hovland

Collectibles were taken from the yard of a home in the 1800 block of Hovland Court around 12:30 a.m. Friday.

2485 Howard

Kenneth Ross, 38, of 915 Dobson St., was arrested at 2485 Howard St. at 7:59 p.m. Saturday and charged with retail theft. He is due in court on Jan.  23 at 9 a.m.

2450 Main

Michael A. Starcevic, 50, of 2837 W. Greenleaf St., Chicago, was arrested at 2450 Main St. at 12:37 p.m. Saturday and charged with retail theft. He is due in court on Dec. 26 at 9 a.m.

An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt, which can only be determined by a court of law. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Court in Skokie.
