‘Good Samaritan’ a suspect in card theft

A 91-year-old Highland Park woman told police she suspects a passerby who helped her feed a parking meter on Central Street may have taken her credit card. This among the stories in today’s daily crime bulletin from Evanston police.

Theft

2000 Central

A female passerby who attempted to help a 91-year-old Highland Park woman feed a parking meter in the 2000 block of Central Street yesterday afternoon at about 3:10 p.m. may have taken off with her credit card, the victim told police.

2600 Green Bay

Credit cards were removed from a victim’s jacket in a retail establishment in the 2600 block of Green Bay Road between 12:35 p.m. and 3:03 p.m. yesterday.

1100 Chicago

Someone took alcoholic products from a grocery store in the 1100 block of Chicago Avenue without paying for them at 9:23 p.m. yesterday.

Asbury at South Boulevard

Leonard L. Dorsett, 34, of 755 E. 80th St., Chicago, was arrested at Asbury Avenue and South Boulevard at 3:15 p.m. yesterday and charged with numerous offenses, including possession of a stolen auto. The incident was the subject of a report yesterday in Evanston Now. 

Burglary

100 Ashland

Someone forced their way into a condominium in the 100 block of Ashland Avenue between noon and 6:48 p.m. yesterday. Nothing was reported missing.

Traffic

939 Chicago

Alaba Adebayo, 45, of 6726 N. Glenwood Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 939 Chicago Ave. at 5:35 p.m. Friday and charged with a traffic violation. He is due in court on March 5 at 9 a.m.

2325 Church

Nathaniel Johnson, 52, of 2208 20th St., Zion, was arrested at 2325 Church St. at 7:14 p.m. Saturday and charged with a traffic violation. He is due in court on March 25 at 9 a.m.

Incidents listed appear among the official reports of the Evanston Police Department. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt, which can only be determined by a court of law. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Circuit Court in Skokie.
