Rider’s phone grabbed on CTA

A rider on the CTA had her phone ripped out of her hand as she left the station at South Boulevard. This among the stories in today’s daily crime bulletin from Evanston police.

Theft

600 South Boulevard

A 19-year-old female rider had her cell phone grabbed right out of her hand by a male perpetrator as she got off the Purple Line train at the South Boulevard station around 6:15 p.m. Thursday.

800 Dodge

A shoplifter was at work at a convenience store in the 800 block of Dodge Avenue between 5:20 p.m. Thursday and 4:33 p.m. Friday.

600 Davis

A purse and a laptop computer were among items removed from the counter of a bar in the 600 block of Davis Street between 11 p.m. Saturday and noon yesterday.

1900 Dempster

A shoplifter took items from a retail establishment in the 1900 block of Dempster Street around 1:20 p.m. Saturday.

Battery

2733 Garrison

Milan A. Kuttan, 19, of 2733 Garrison Ave., was arrested at that address at 8:26 p.m. Friday and charged with domestic battery. He is due in court on March 4 at 9:30 a.m.

1211 Cleveland

Raul Miranda, 20, of 1213 Cleveland St., was arrested next door at 1211 Cleveland at 11:52 a.m. yesterday and charged with battery.

Criminal Damage

800 Davis

Someone damaged the credit card reader at a  convenience store in the 800 block of Davis Street at 6:09 p.m. Saturday.

800 Howard

Someone damaged the windshield and punctured the tires of a vehicle in a business parking lot in the 800 block of Howard Street between 2:45 p.m. and 3:50 p.m. Friday.

Graffiti

2200 Greenleaf

Graffiti was discovered at a retail establishment in the 2200 block of Greenleaf St. at 12:38 p.m. Friday.

300 Chicago

Graffiti was discovered on the street in the 300 block of Chicago Avenue at 5:35 p.m. Friday

200 Chicago

Graffiti was discovered on the street in the 200 block of Chicago Avenue at 5:32 p.m. Friday.

Shots Heard

300 Custer

Gunshots were reported in the 300 block of Custer Avenue at 11:25 p.m. yesterday. Police checked the area but found nothing.

Traffic

1630 Chicago

Hannah Bernstein, 22, of 6528 N. Francisco Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 1630 Chicago Ave. at 4:26 p.m. yesterday and charged with a traffic violation. She is due in court on March 20 at 1:30 p.m.

860 Chicago

Jonathan M. Costello, 37, of 511 Judson Ave., was arrested at 860 Chicago Ave. at 12:03 p.m. yesterday and charged with a traffic violation. He is due in court on March 22 at 10:30 a.m.

1030 Austin

Kirby D. Graham, 26, of 8458 Linder Court, Skokie, was arrested at 1030 Austin St. at 3:55 p.m. Friday and charged with a traffic violation. He is due in court on March 27 at 10:30 a.m.

Oakton at Ridge

Ibet Perez, 30, of 174 Steamboat Lane, Bolingbrook, was arrested at Oakton Street and Ridge Avenue at 12:48 a.m. yesterday and charged with driving under the influence. She is due in court on March 13 at 9 a.m.

1800 Simpson

Roger T. Smith, 37, of 2035 Brown Ave., was arrested at 1800 Simpson St. at 3:50 p.m. yesterday and charged with a traffic violation. He is due in court on March 20 at 9 a.m.

Incidents listed appear among the official reports of the Evanston Police Department. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt, which can only be determined by a court of law. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Circuit Court in Skokie.
