Neighbors around St. Francis Hospital in Evanston’s 8th Ward have been showing their support for the hospital’s workers who’ve been dealing with the COVID-19 emergency.
Resident Matt Rodgers designed and ordered banners and Alderman Ann Rainey ordered yard signs that Rodgers also designed.
Neighbors signed the yard signs with notes of appreciation for the hospital employees and posted them in the parkway along Ridge Avenue and Austin Street at the hospital site.

Rainey notes that posting signs in the parkway is generally illegal in the city, but Mayor Steve Hagerty signed off on a waiver of that rule. Hagerty said he did it “to show our respect and heartfelt appreciation for all our Amita St. Francis health care workers are doing” to save lives during the pandemic.
