Evanston city crews will start this year’s street cleaning operations on Monday, March 15, weather permitting.
The start of the street cleaning season is typically March 1, but was delayed this year due to substantial snow accumulation in February.
Signs posted at the beginning and end of each block indicates when parking restrictions will be in place on each street. The 2021 street cleaning map and schedule is available online, and you can sign up there to receive text and email alerts for street cleaning days.
Drivers parked illegally are subject to a $75 ticket.
Additional fall street cleaning dates have been added for residential streets to ensure debris is cleared in the late fall months. Signage will be posted and parking restrictions will be enforced.
New this year, residential streets in Zone 1 (west of Green Bay Road and McCormick Boulevard) will be swept once per month on the first Tuesday and first Wednesday of the month, instead of the first Thursday and first Friday.
Street cleaning will continue through Dec. 15.
Gasoline-powered leaf blowers are allowed March 30 to May 15 and Sept. 30 through the first Thursday of December on weekdays, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday, Sunday and holidays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Raking or blowing leaves into the streets is illegal, and can block sewers and cause flooding.
