Evanston city officials say snow plow crews are on standby today after working overnight to plow city streets following a heavy burst totalling about two inches of snow fell on the pavement between 9 and 11 p.m. Friday.
Since then, Jim Maiworm of the city’s Public Works Agency says, conditions have moderated and a mix of snow and rain has continued. With the rain, and warm pavement temperatures, snow hasn’t accumulated further so far today.
The snow and rain mix is expected to continue into the early afternoon, Maiworm says, with some risk for additional accumulation. Very cold temperatures will follow tonight with clearing skies.
