A firefighter who was directing traffic while a firetruck was backing into the fire station was struck by a vehicle in the 700 block of Madison Street at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday. Ronald H. Sims, 71, of 918 Michigan Ave., was arrested at 702 Madison St. at 4:56 p.m. Tuesday and charged with aggravated battery against emergency personnel in the act of performing duty.
Dewey at Washington
Michael L. Bristow, 32, of 1701 Madison St., was arrested at Dewey Avenue and Washington Street at 3:21 p.m. yesterday and charged with battery.
Corey L. Simon, 35, of 1000 Grove St., was arrested at 705 Sherman Ave. at 8:44 p.m. Monday and charged with domestic battery.
Personal documents were taken in the burglary of an unlocked 2004 Audi in the 2400 block of Oakton Street around 4 p.m. Wednesday.
An attempted burglary of a home in the 1300 block of Ridge Avenue occurred by the breaking of a window at about 4:12 p.m. Wednesday. Nothing was reported taken.
Personal documents were taken in the burglary of an unlocked 2015 Subaru in a parking lot in the 1400 block of Chicago Avenue between 11 a.m. Monday and noon on Tuesday.
Someone cut trees on private property in the 1000 block of Colfax Street at about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday.
Gunshots were reported in the 1600 block of Foster Street at 8:50 p.m. Tuesday. Police checked the area but found nothing.
A catalytic converter was removed from a 2006 Toyota in the 1300 block of Kirk Street at about midnight Saturday.

A catalytic converter was removed from a 2008 Toyota in the driveway of a home in the 800 block of Sherman Avenue at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
An attempt at retail theft at a shoe store in the 2200 block of Oakton Street occurred at 5:35 p.m. Tuesday.
Building materials were taken from a hardware store in the 2200 block of Oakton Street at about 12:30 p.m. yesterday.
Alcoholic products were stolen from the Jewel-Osco grocery store in the 1100 block of Chicago Avenue at 9:07 p.m. Wednesday.

Money was taken from a safe at a commercial establishment in the 1000 block of Central Street between 7:20 p.m. Tuesday and 11:40 a.m. Wednesday.
A package was taken from the porch of a home in the 1800 block of Hovland Court around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.
An unsecured bicycle was stolen from the porch of a home in the 1700 block of Hovland Court at about 1 a.m. yesterday.
Hussein Alzerijawi, 19, of 8657 Avers Ave., Skokie, was arrested at that location at 1:15 p.m. Sunday and charged with a traffic violation.

Mary T. Blackwell, 66, of 1728 Monroe St., was arrested at 2400 Green Bay Road at 4:22 p.m. Wednesday and charged with a traffic violation.
Anthony Y. Clark, 58, of 8218 S. Stoney Island, Chicago, was arrested at 900 Chicago Ave. at 1:18 p.m. Tuesday and charged with a traffic violation.
Acacio Rodriguez, 39, of 910 W. Keith Ave., Waukegan, was arrested at 2522 Orrington Ave. at 7:09 a.m. Tuesday and charged with a traffic violation.
Luis D. Rodriguez, 25, of 1814 Hartrey Ave., was arrested at 1513 Lake St. at 12:43 p.m. Wednesday and charged with a traffic violation.
Giovanna K. Scott, 27, of 4451 S. Wood St., Chicago, was arrested at 1409 Dodge Ave. at 2:59 p.m. Tuesday and charged with a traffic violation.
