A resident of a multi-unit building in the 100 block of Clyde Avenue was struck in the head with a beer can during a robbery Wednesday afternoon. This among the stories in Thursday’s daily crime bulletin from Evanston police.
ROBBERY
100 Clyde
A 58-year-old man confronted a stranger laying on the floor in the vestibule of his apartment building in the 100 block of Clyde Avenue around 3 p.m. Wednesday. Police said the man then tried to make a call on his cell phone when the stranger hit him on the head with a beer can and fled with the victim’s phone.
BURGLARY
1600 Dobson
Someone gained entry to an unlocked 2019 Chevrolet in the 1600 block of Dobson Street . Nothing was reported missing.
800 Chicago
A burglar gained entry to a secured common area of a residence in the 800 block of Chicago Avenue and stole a bicycle between May 1 and noon Wednesday.
Sherman at Austin
A burglar gained entry to an unlocked 2014 Nissan near Sherman Avenue and Austin Street between 4:30 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m.Tuesday and stole cash.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
1600 Maple
Someone used a rock to break a window on a commercial building in the 1600 block of Maple Avenue between 5 p.m. on Friday and midnight Monday.
Foster at Jackson
The rear window of a 2002 Dodge was broken near Foster Street and Jackson Avenue between 6 p.m. Saturday and 9:15 a.m. Wednesday.
DRUGS
2485 Howard
Nazareen B.Chambers, 23, of 231 Richmond Ave., was arrested at 2485 Howard St. at 12:53 a.m. on April 26 and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
GRAFFITI
300 Dempster
Graffiti was discovered spray-painted on an electrical box in the 300 block of Dempster Street at 5:42 p.m. Wednesday.
800 Michigan
Graffiti was discovered spray-painted on an electrical box in the 800 block of Michigan Avenue at noon Wednesday.
OTHER
1715 Payne
Dion L. King, 19, of 1315 McDaniel Ave., was arrested at 1715 Payne St. at 6:12 p.m. Wednesday and charged with unlawful use of a weapon.
THEFT
200 Grey
A cell phone was reported stolen in the 200 block of Grey Avenue between 11 a.m. and 10:55 p.m. Monday.
600 Chicago
Toiletries were reported stolen from the Walgreens Pharmacy in the 600 block of Chicago Avenue at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday.
500 Custer
A catalytic converter was removed from a 2013 Hyundai in the 500 block of Custer Avenue between 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. Wednesday.
A catalytic converter was removed from a 2005 Chevrolet in the 500 block of Custer Avenue between 1:30 p.m. Tuesday and 10:30 a.m.Wednesday.
200 Elmwood
A catalytic converter was removed from a 2003 Oldsmobile in the 200 block of Elmwood Avenue around 5:42 a.m. Wednesday.
1200 Hull
A catalytic converter was removed from a 2018 Honda in the 1200 block of Hull Terrace around 5 a.m. Wednesday.
