A semi-trailer truck trying to turn into Sherman Avenue from Lake Street in Evanston about 10:30 this morning got stuck trying to make the tight turn and in trying to back out ended up running into a street light pole.
A crew from North Shore Towing attached chains to the truck’s trailer, planning to pull it sideways to get it back onto the roadway.
A police car blocked traffic at the intersection of Lake Street and Elmwood Avenue while the crews worked to free the stuck truck.
Was this truck operating legally?
According to the city's website trucks weighing more than 8,000 pounds are not allowed on Lake or Sherman. Was there any indication that the driver was operating legally and were there any citations given to this person?
An empty tractor trailer like is pictured in the post is probably at least 20,000 pounds.
