Student punched by would-be cell phone thief


Northwestern University police report that a female student was attacked by a would-be robber in the 2000 block of Pratt Court in Evanston just before midnight Wednesday.

Police say the student was walking north on the east sidewalk on Pratt when she was approached from behind and punched in the face. The offender then attempted to take her cell phone but was unsuccessful and ran from the area in an unknown direction.

No weapon was displayed and the victim received minor injuries. Evanston and university police searched the area but were unable to locate the assailant. 

The offender was described as a younger male white, 5 feet 7 inches to 6 feet in height, wearing dark pants and a grey hooded sweatshirt.
