Two male Northwestern students were robbed near the intersection of Haven Street and Orrington Avenue in Evanston early this morning.

University officials have issued a campus alert saying the incident happened about 12:43 a.m.

The report says three male subjects approached the students from behind. One grabbed the students around their necks and demanded their money while the two others stood nearby.

The victims gave their cash and a cell phone to the offenders. The robbers then told the victims to walk north and the offenders fled south.

The victims called Evanston police, but a search of the area by Evanston and university officers failed to turn up the suspects.

The students were not injured, but they were unable to provide a detailed description of their assailants.

  1. whoa…

This is very scary.  Grabbing people by the neck can actually herniate discs.  Luckily, the students are okay.
