The Evanston Chamber of Commerce Artisan SummerFest returns on Saturday and Sunday, June 23 and 24, to Sherman Avenue and Church Street downtown.

The North Shore’s oldest fine arts happening, formerly known as the Fountain Square Art Festival, will showcase, in its 39th year, the eclectic juried handiwork of more than 90 artists that range from paintings and jewelry to sculptures, photography and ceramics.

Event hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days.

Beyond art, other weekend highlights include:

  • Adult visitors can chill out at ticketed afternoon wine tastings (ages 21 and older) between 2 and 6 p.m. With the purchase of a $25 pass, visitors can sample up to 15 fine wines from a pool of 50-plus varietals.
  • For children, there will be an activity area with several cool interactive projects overseen by Art Encounters on Saturday and One River School of Art and Design on Sunday.
  • There will also be a music stage as well as food and wine vendors.
  • In addition, fest visitors will be entertained by strolling street musicians and performers.

A $5 suggested adult gate donation benefits the Chamber of Commerce.
