A 26-year-old Rogers Park man has been charged with aggravated battery in connection with a shooting incident at the intersection of Custer Avenue and Brummel Street in Evanston Monday afternoon.

Police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan says the victims were in a car at the intersection when a man in another car opened fire on them shortly after 2 p.m.

He says video from a surveillance camera at the intersection helped police detectives locate the shooter’s car in the 7700 block of Paulina Avenue in Chicago and take the suspect into custody

The victims, both Evanston residents, drove to St. Francis Hospital, where one, an 18-year-old man, was treated for a gunshot wound to the knee. The other, a 20-year-old man, reportedly suffered a graze wound and left the hospital before responding officers arrived.

Andre Williams, of 1638 W. Juneway Terrace, now faces felony aggravated battery and aggravated discharge of a firearm charges and is scheduled to appear in Skokie district court.
