Take a shovel to those hydrants, city asks

cityofevanston_logo

With temperatures in Evanston expected to climb above freezing this weekend, the city would like you to help the fire department clear the access to the fire hydrants in your neighborhood.

Because every minute counts in an emergency, the Evanston Fire & Life Safety Services personnel would like to be able to reach those hydrants in a jiffy if need be.

Keeping fire hydrants clear of snow can save precious time, they note.

Also, residents are encouraged to park as close to the curb as possible, clear of alleyways and intersections, so emergency vehicles and city trucks have access.
