Property tax assessment notices for Evanston homeowners are going in the mail today.

The County Assessor’s office says the notices — which will likely show up in mailboxes Saturday or Monday — will have a new look, with information about prices similar properties sold for recently in the neighborhood.

Homeowners will have until June 13 to file an appeal. Taxpayers can either hire a private attorney, or ask either the county or township assessors’ offices to prepare an appeal for them.

The Evanston Township Assessor’s office is at 1910 Main St., phone 847-332-2465. The nearest branch of the county assessor’s office is in Room 149 at the Skokie courthouse, 5600 W. Old Orchard Rd., phone 847-470-7237.

  1. 2011 Assessment

The Evanston Township Assessor's office is located at 846 Dodge Ave.  The office is open Monday through Friday and our hours of operation are 8:30 am to 5 pm.  We are currently accepting appointments to help taxpayers prepare and complete appeals to the Cook County Assessor's office for 2011 assessments as well as corrections of factual errors that could have caused an over assessment of previous years.  If you have any questions, please call us at (847) 332-2465.
