A handful of anti-war protestors distributed leaflets outside the Evanston Post Office today — the deadline for filing tax returns — to protest government spending on the war in Iraq.

The protest, organized by Neighbors for Peace, featured charges that the government is dramatically understating the share of government spending devoted to the military.

Government figures claim military spending amounts to 19 percent of the total federal budget, the protestors claim that it totals nearly half.

Details of the protestors’ claims are in the attached flyer.
