A 15-year-old girl on a learner’s permit flipped her SUV in a three car accident at Sherman Avenue and Noyes Street this afternoon.

Evanston police on the scene say it appears the girl somehow veered into a parked car about 12:45 p.m. hitting it hard enough to flip her own vehicle onto its side.

The damaged SUV, after a tow truck had pulled it right side up again.

It sounded like “a semitrailer hit a tree,” a witness said.

The collision also forced the parked car into another parked car in front of it.

Police said the SUV left white streaks of paint on the pavement as the driver’s side skidded across the ground.

The girl did not appear to be seriously injured, and the incident did not leave her unconscious, witnesses and police said. Officers helped the girl climb out of her sun roof. An ambulance then took her to the hospital.

The girl had been driving alone, one officer said, and nobody was in either of the parked cars that were damaged.
