Teen shot on Evanston street

Police say a 16-year-old Evanston youth was shot and wounded about 4:40 p.m. near the intersection of Lyons Street and Ashland Avenue.

Police are searching for two suspects in the shooting.

The victim, who was shot in the chest, was taken to Evanston Hospital where he's reported to be in stable condition.

Police confer near the shooting scene.

Police, and the department's canine unit are searching the neighborhood near the schooting scene for evidence in the case.

Witnesses said they heard two shots, and then saw one man fleeing down an alley and through a neighboring yard onto Wesley Avenue.


Update 8:35 p.m.: Police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan says juvenile detectives are currently conducting an investigation into the incident.

Update 10:05 p.m.: Dugan says the suspect who fired the shots is described as a black male in his late teens with a dark complexion who was wearing baseball hat and all black clothing.
