Evanston police say a 17-year-old youth was shot in the 1900 block of Jackson Avenue about 11 p.m. Tuesday.

The youth, who suffered a gunshot wound to the groin, was taken to Evanston Hospital where police say he’s in stable condition.

Police say the youth told officers that two tall, thin black males wearing hooded sweatshirts and ski masks approached him as he was talking to several other young men outside a home on the block and began firing.

Evanston police detectives are investigating the incident.
