The Evanston Township High School Wildkit tennis team defeated St. Ignatuis 6-2 on a windy 85 degree afternoon at home today.

The Wildkits swept singles with all four starters playing at a high level throughout their matches.

At #1 singles Adam Collins handled a very tough USTA tournament player in Christopher Scott 6-1, 6-3.

Connor Woolf used the wind and effective lobs to dismantle LJ Maloney 6-3, 6-1.

Sam Wiener played his best high school tennis to date easily rolling Jimmy Perry 6-1, 6-1.  And Paul Lemon blasted one rocket serve after another to win his first Varsity match 6-3, 7-5

In doubles action, Illan Ireland and Ben Garfin faced two tough seniors at #1 falling 6-2, 6-1.  Niko Hertto and McClain Vincent fought hard in the heat and prevailed in a 3 setter 6-4, 1-6, 6-1 at #2 doubles.

At #3 doubles Andy Galler and Alex Velasco had a slow start and almost turned the tide in the second set but fell 6-2, 7-6.  Henry Bricker and Ethan Schnoll played very well and held on to win their match 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 at #4 doubles.

The Wldkits next match is March 27 on the road at Schaumburg.  And the Evanston invitational at home on April 7 will feature top schools including New Trier and Loyola.
