Evanston residents can now sign up to get text messages or e-mail alerts to remind them about street sweeping operations on their street.

While we don’t think the actual text message will be quite like the headline on this story, Rickey Voss, the city’s parking manager, says the alert system “will allow residents to be better informed of street sweeping in their area and help give them ample warning to move their cars in order to avoid a parking citation.”

Text or e-mail notifications will be sent to subscribers one to two days prior to the actual street sweeping day.

You can sign up for the alerts here.

  1. Text not Tow!

Now that is a great idea – I know my tenants will be grateful.

    Bravo! Thank you Rickey Voss!

Just no texting & driving!  =;D  Brian G. Becharas

P.S. – I kinda like the 'Yo, we're about to tow (your car)!'
