The storms that swept through Evanston Wednesday afternoon found a welcome audience in the grass and bushes that grace homeowner lawns throughout the city.
City Manager Wally Bobkiewicz said rainfall at the water plant totaled 2.06 inches yesterday.
It was the first significant rain since April 29 and 30, he added.
Scattered showers are predicted for the Chicago metropolitan area practically every day for the next week, according to the National Weather Service.
