Evanston’s Mudlark Theater Company is offering a series of arts workshop classes for children ages 8 to 18 this summer.

From Mudlark’s spring production of Peter Pan, Kieran Collins as Peter and Jazzlyn Smith as Tinkerbell in the foreground, with Andy Soglin, Isabella Green and Kyle Kersnar.

The series kicks off with "Acting & Reacting: Improvisation for Performance" taught by Associate Artistic Director Janna Sobel June 14-18.

That’s followed by a three week production course, a hands-on experience producing a 40-minute play, taught by Artistic Director Andrew Biliter and Evanston actor Mike Miro, starting June 21. Every child gets a part and the opportunity to experience what it’s like to put on a show.

The program continues with a one-week session in fantasy stage make-up, taught by Paige Keedy Lions June 21-25 and a “no age limit” course in costume design and construction by Ann Wasserman June 28-July 2.

For young actors seeking a Second City-style ensemble experience, Mike Miro’s popular Mudlarkian Longform course (August 2-6) will have kids performing classic comedy techniques in an “improv troupe” setting.

Each week-long session consists of five three-hour classes, held mornings or afternoons, Monday through Friday at the theater headquarters, 1417 Hinman Ave. For more information or to register, visit the theater website.
