Evanston health officials reported four new COVID-19 cases among city residents today. Statewide there were 2,257 new cases.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of 62,071 tests, up dramatically from yesterday’s 46,391.

The statewide positive rate in Illinois today is 3.6%, compared to a seven-day average positive rate of 3.5%.

The IDPH reported tests of 280 Evanston residents today and it found five positive cases for a positive rate of 1.8% compared to a seven-day average rate for the city of 1.9%. The state now says Evanston has had a total of 1,105 cases.

By the city’s count, Evanston has a total of 1,109 COVID-19 cases. The city’s death toll from the disease remained unchanged today at 73.

Chicago reported 356 new cases today for a total of 78,345 and five more deaths for a total of 2,944.

Suburban Cook County reported 461 more cases today for a total of 63,095 and two more deaths for a total of 2,243.

Those who died in Cook County today ranged in age from their 50s to their 90s.

The state now has 281,371 COVID-19 cases and it reported 30 more deaths today for a total of 8,538.

As of last night, 1,713 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 400 patients were in the ICU and 155 of those were on ventilators.
