Evanston police arrested three men early this morning in Clyde-Brummel Park who’ve now been charged with an armed robbery at the Tasty Sub Restaurant at Howard and Damen in Chicago.

Evanston Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott says Evanston officers on patrol on Howard Street were flagged down at 1:20 a.m. by three people who said they’d been robbed at gunpoint at the Tasty Sub.

After notifying Chicago police of the crime, Parrott says, Evanston officers searched the area and found three men who tried to flee on foot, but were taken into custody in the park.

Parrott says the three were identified by the robbery victims, and that officers also recovered, in the 200 block of Custer Street, items taken in the robbery, as well as a .357 magnum revolver believed used in the crime.

The three — Jeremy A. Starling, 20, and Steven T. Little, 19, both of Evanston, and Akeem M. Brackenridge, 19, of Skokie, were turned over to Chicago police and have each been charged with two counts of armed robbery with a firearm. They are to appear in Branch 42 court at Belmont and Western in Chicago at 10:30 a.m. on June 24.
