Three Evanston athletes advance to track regional

Three athletes from Evanston earned the right to compete at the USATF (United States of America Track and Field) Regional set for July 8-10 at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind.  following last weekend’s qualifying meet.

Junior-to-be Jonathan Wilburn  captured first place in the triple jump in the 17-18 year-old division with a personal best leap of 46 feet, 6.75 inches. The 16-year-old also qualified in the long jump with another PR of 20-11.75, good for 6th place.

Also in the 17-18 division, Christian Nielsen advanced in the shot put with a fifth place best effort of 50 feet, 3 inches.

In the 13-14 division, ETHS incoming freshman Sacrad Michelin earned the right to run at the regional with a 6th place showing of 57.03 seconds in the 400-meter dash.
