Evanston health officials reported three more COVID-19 deaths today, raising the toll to 57, while also reporteing five more cases for a total of 741.

Chicago reported 271 more cases for a total of 48,175 and 20 additional deaths for a total of 2,271.

Statewide three were 867 new cases for a total of 127,757 and 40 more deaths for a total of 5,904.

For every 10,000 residents COVID-19 has now claimed the lives of 7.6 people in Evanston, almost the same as the 8.4 per 10,000 death rate in Chicago. The comparable rate for the state as a whole is just 4.6 deaths per 10,000.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of 131 more COVID-19 tests of Evanston residents and reported that four of those tests returned a positve result, for a positive rate of 1.56%. Half the tests and all the new cases today were in the south Evanston 60602 ZIP Code.

Statewide results of 20,700 tests were reported today, just about average for the past seven days. The positive rate today was 4.19% while the seven-day average rate was 5.19%
