Evanston health officials reported three new COVID-19 cases among city residents today bringing the total to 825, while the number of cases statewide reversed a recent decline hitting 1,187 for the day for a total of 156,693.

Chicago reported 274 new cases for a total of 55,857 and five more deaths for a total of 2,702.

Evanston’s COVID-19 death toll remained unchanged at 71. The statewide death toll rose by eight to 7.226.

The Illinois Department of Public Health repored the results of tests on 38,161 state residents today. That’s the second highest daily testing number ever.

The state reported a positive test rate of 3.1% today, and a seven-day rolling average that also stood at 3.1%

The IDPH reported test results for 180 Evanston residents today and reported five positive test results, two more than the count reported by the city. Using the state numbers, Evanston had a positive rate of 2.8% today, the highest rate in more than a week.
