Evanston health officials reported three new COVID-19 cases among city residents today. Statewide there were 1,402 new cases.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of 48,011 tests, down dramatically from yesterday’s record of 74,286.

The statewide positive rate today is 2.9%, compared to a seven-day average positive rate of 3.5%.

The IDPH reported tests of 198 Evanston residents today and it found five positive cases for a positive rate of 2.5% compared to a seven-day average rate for the city of 1.5%. The state now says Evanston has had a total of 1,086 cases.

By the city’s count, Evanston has a total of 1,089 COVID-19 cases. The city’s death toll from the disease remained unchanged today at 73.

Chicago reported 275 new cases today for a total of 77,241 and two more deaths for a total of 2,932.

Suburban Cook County reported 237 more cases today for a total of 61,847 and three more death for a total of 2,230.

Those who died in Cook County ranged from a man in his 50s to a woman in her 80s.

The state now has 274,258 COVID-19 cases and it reported 14 more deaths today for a total of 8,450.

As of last night, 1,417 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 357 patients were in the ICU and 151 of those were on ventilators.
