Evanston health officials reported three new COVID-19 cases among city residents today. Statewide there were 1,601 new cases.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of 50,822 tests, down substantially from Saturday’s 65,217.

The statewide positive rate in Illinois today is 3.2%, compared to a seven-day average for the state of 3.7%.

The IDPH reported tests of 196 Evanston residents today, down from 480 Saturday, It found six positive cases here for a positive rate of 3.1% compared to a seven-day average rate for the city of 1.9%. The state now says Evanston has had a total of 1,125 cases.

By the city’s count, Evanston has a total of 1,128 COVID-19 cases. The city’s death toll from the disease remained unchanged today at 73.

Chicago reported 275 new cases today for a total of 79,389. Its coronavirus death toll increased by four to 2,952.

Suburban Cook County also reported 275 more cases today for a total of 64,245 and three more deaths for a total of 2,258.

Those who died in Cook County today ranged in age from a man in his 50s to two women in their 90s.

The state now has 287,930 COVID-19 cases, and it reported 13 more deaths today for a total of 8,601.

As of last night, 1,486 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 350 patients were in the ICU and 144 of those were on ventilators.
