Evanston reported three new COVID-19 cases today, bringing the city’s total to 307, while the state reported 2,126 additional cases for a total of 43,903.

The City of Chicago reported 756 new cases for a total of 17,865.

Evanston’s death toll remained at 10 today, Chicago’s increased by 32 to 740, and the statewide death toll rose by 59 to a total of 1,933.

The state reported conducting 13,335 additional tests for COVID-19 today which brings the seven-day rolling average of tests conducted to 10,233 — the first time the average has topped the 10,000 mark since the pandemic began.

Just under 16% of the tests reported today came back positive. That’s the lowest positive percentage this month, and it could be a sign that fewer cases of the coronavirus are going undetected than in the past.
