Evanston health officials reported three new COVID-19 cases among city residents today while the statewide count of new cases again rose above 2,000.
Evanston’s total case count now stands at 960 while the death toll remained unchanged at 71.
Chicago reported 447 new cases today for a total of 67,915 and seven more deaths for a total of 2,844.
Suburban Cook County had 440 new cases for a total of 51,729 and two more deaths for a total of 2,153.
Across Illinois there were 2,208 new cases for a total of 215,929 and 24 more deaths for a total of 7,857.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of 51,736 coronavirus tests today, slightly topping the previous record set on Thursday. The positive rate on tests today was 4.3%, essentially the same as the seven-day average.
The IDPH reported tests on 225 Evanston residents today and had four positive results for a positive rate of 1.8%
