Evanston health officials reported three new COVID-19 cases among city residents today, while new cases across the state continued to trend up slightly to 869.

Evanston now has had a total of 798 cases of the novel coronavirus disease. The death toll here remained unchanged for a sixth day today at 69.

Chicago reported 273 new cases today for a total of 52,833 and 12 more deaths for a total of 2,623.

Across the state there now are a total of 144,882 COVID-19 cases and 36 more deaths were reported today for a total of 6,987.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of 30,262 tests for the disease today for a positive rate of 2.9%, the highest positive rate in more than a week.

The IDPH identified four new cases in Evanston today, one more than the city, from among 122 results for Evanston residents, for a positive rate of 2.5%, the highest rate here in more than a week.
