Evanston officials reported three new COVID-19 cases in the city today raising the case count to 820. Across Illinois officials reported 883 new cases, bringing the state total to 154,799.

Today’s statewide number represented the second day of declining cases after a peak reached on Saturday.

Evanston’s COVID-19 death toll remained at 71 today.

Chicago reported 173 new cases today for a total of 55,399 along with five more deaths for a total of 2,688.

The statewide death toll grew by six today to 7,193.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of 30,012 COVID-19 tests today with a positive rate of 2.9%, just below the seven-day average of 3%.

The IDPH reported test results of 191 Evanston residents today and noted two positive cases, one less than in the city’s report, for a positive rate of 1.1%. The IDPH said both new cases today were found in the north Evanston 60201 ZIP Code.
