Evanston health officials reported three new COVID-19 cases among city residents today, raising the total cases here to 817. Meanwhile the state reported 954 new cases, reversing a trend of rising case counts over the last few days.

The state now has reported a total of 153,916 COVID-19 cases and the number of deaths from the virus rose today by 19 to 6,187. Evanston’s death toll remained unchanged today at 71.

Chicago reported 258 new cases today for a total of 55,226 and had seven additional deaths for a total of 2,683.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of 38,894 tests for the disease today, an all-time record. Today’s positive test rate was 2.5%, down from 3.7% on Saturday. The seven-day rolling average positive rate is now 3%.

The IDPH reported test results for 295 Evanston residents today with a 1% positive rate. One of today’s cases was reported in the north Evanston 60201 ZIP Code, the other two in the south Evanston 60202 ZIP Code.
