Evanston health officials reported three new cases of COVID-19 in the city today bringing the total case count to 747 and one additional death raising the death toll to 58.

Chicago reported 139 new cases for a total of 48,742 and nine more deaths for a total of 2,314. That’s the first time Chicago’s daily death count has dropped to single digits in nearly two months.

Across Illinois there were 625 new cases for a total of 129,837 and 77 additional deaths for a total of 6,095.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of 170 more COVID-19 tests of Evanston residents and three new positive cases for a positive rate of 1.8%. All three of the new cases were among residents who listed their address as in the south Evanston 60202 ZIP Code.

Statewide results of 20.820 more COVID-19 tests were reported today with a positive rate of 3%. The seven-day rolling average positive rate in the state now is 4.3%
