Evanston health officials reported three new COVID-19 cases in Evanston today, compared to one yesterday. The city’s coronavirus death toll remained unchanged today at 111.

Statewide there were 1,249 new cases today, compared to 1,780 yesterday, for a new total of 1,186,696.

The Illinois Department of Public Health today reported that 79,266 people were vaccinated yesterday, compared to 83,048 the day before. The seven-day average of daily vaccinations increased to 79,140.

A total of 2,705,933 vaccine doses had been administered as of yesterday, about 85% of the total 3,183,805 doses distributed to the state by the federal government. The IDPH says 6.39% of the state’s population is now fully vaccinated.

Cook County, including Chicago, is only in the middle of the pack among Illinois counties in the share of residents vaccinated so far.

Illinois reported 22 COVID-19 deaths today, compared to 34 yesterday, for a new total of 20,516.

The state reported 66,500 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 81,668 yesterday.

The IDPH reported tests of 264 Evanston residents today, compared to 412 yesterday. The IDPH found eight positive cases here for a daily positive rate of 3.0%.

The state now says Evanston has had a total of 4,069 cases. The city’s tally is 3,920.

Chicago reported 236 new COVID-19 cases today for a total of 244,725 and five more deaths for a total of 4,882.

Suburban Cook County reported 217 new cases today for a total of 229,672 and threex more death for a total of 4,477.

The IDPH reported that the deaths in Cook County included three men in their 60s, a woman and two men in their 70s, a woman in her 90s adn a woman over 100 years old.

As of last night, 1,265 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 303 patients were in the ICU and 150 of those were on ventilators.
