It was family night at the Evanston City Council Monday as three Evanston police officers were sworn in to their new, higher ranks.

Spouses and children were on hand to watch the officers take the oath of office, administered by City Clerk and Police Chaplain Rodney Greene. And then the spouses got to pin new badges on the promoted officer’s uniforms.

Taking the oath were:

  • Detective Chelsea Brown, promoted to sergeant.
  • Detective Jeff Faison, promoted to sergeant.
  • Sgt. Mel Collier, promoted to commander.
