Evanston police say a call from a citizen about three males on bicycles breaking out a window of a car in the 1500 block of McDaniel Avenue has led to three arrests.

The incident happened about 8 p.m. on Christmas Eve and the caller said the youths had stolen an iPad from inside the car.

Responding officers stopped three teens on bikes nearby in the 2400 block of Lake Street and say they recovered the stolen iPad — along with items taken from an unlocked car in the 2100 block of Lincolnwood Avenue and a third car-break-in that occurred in Skokie.

The two Evanston boys — one 16, the other 17 — and the 16-year-old Skokie youth have been charged with two counts of burglary to motor vehicle and were petitioned to juvenile court. Dugan says Skokie Police were notified about the arrests and will handle any charges for incidents that occurred in their jurisdiction.
