Three 18-year-olds from Chicago have been charged with burglarizing four cars in Evanston after police stopped their car for a minor traffic violation.

Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott says officers stopped the car about 1:50 a.m. Thursday near Asbury Street and Oakton Avenue.

Officers say they found a variety of stolen items, ranging from golf clubs to an air compressor, inside the car.

Parrott says the teens were charged with two car break-ins in the 1100 block of Monroe Street as well as ones in the 600 block of Elmwood Avenue and the 900 block of Seward Street.

The three were identified as Andres Flores of 6621 N. Clark, Jose Cortes of 6333 N. Whipple and Ivan Franco of 3510 W. Evergreen.

They’re scheduled to appear in Skokie district court at 9 a.m. on March 12.
