Evanston city government offices will be closed this Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving.

Public libraries, the Levy Center, the Noyes Arts Center and the Fleetwood-Jourdain Center will be closed both days. The Robert Crown Center will be closed Thursday.

Thursday garbage collection will be postponed until Friday. Condo recycling collections will take place on Saturday.

Update 7 p.m. 11/21/11: Contrary to the information received from the city’s public information office, we’ve now learned that the library website says the main library will be open on Friday, Nov. 25, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

  1. Turkey, chicken, etc.

Here's some other stuff that is closed….permanently:

Pomegranate:  RIP, my friend.  I will have to drive to Pita Inn now.

Ultimate Chicken Bar:  Good riddance.  I wonder how that Bento place is that replaced it.

And what's up with Carmen's, appearing just south of Union Pizza?  When is that opening?   The Evanston and Loyola locations were nice…many, many years ago…..but they went seriously downhill in their last days.  Is this new place going to be nice?

And enquiring minds want to know when Pret-a-Manger will open!
